I am really excited to be returning to La Maison Anglaise a beautiful walled haven and retreat venue in Taroudant, Morocco. La Maison Anglaise organise and host beautiful retreats all year round and you can find more about them here. Even though this retreat is in 2026 please email me to register your interest if you are feeling tempted to join.

The Venue

Well known for magical meaningful holidays, excellent food and exceptional staff, this award-winning set up is a stunning sustainably-run eco-lodge with a chlorine-free pool and permaculture gardens. Located on the south side of the ancient town walls of Taroudant, which enjoys the best winter climate in Morocco. Our venue has a variety of lovely spaces for yoga including the tiled circle in the gardens, the spacious 64 sq metre activity room and a very large tiled roof terrace, lovely at sunset and sunrise.

The Retreat - “ORIGINS”

Somatic yoga - Somatic Movement - Restorative Yoga - Yoga Nidra - Journaling - Mark Making (Drawing). No previous experience of any of these things necessary!

I will be drawing from a body of work I am creating called ‘Origins’. This work seeks to support cultivating the body as a tangible place of resource, regulation and inspiration.

Through somatic yoga, somatic movement, restorative yoga, yoga nidra, journaling and mark making we will reconnect with the origins of our developmental movement patterns. Embodying themes of beingness, pulsation, vibration, fluidity, yield, reach, rise and push we will explore spirals of movement that take us both into the heart of deep rest and into more expansive active places supported from the ground up and our relationship to earth, self, gravity and space.

We will learn how to listen inward, follow our own instinctual inner impulses and unfold into movement without force. This gives space for our bodies to inhabit themselves as they may need to in each moment from a place of choice, agency, body intelligence and a reconnection to felt sense. These are pathways back to towards an embodied and connected relationship with ourselves and support the body to move into a state of regneration.

The developmental movement patterns we will explore accompany us on life's journey, they supported us to grow and transition from a single cell to upright human being. We need these movement patterns to be alive, vibrant and coherent to function and live fully, but sometimes we lose our connection to them. We may inhabit them with less enthusiasm, resonance or purpose than we once did or perhaps we are stuck more in one pattern and have lost connection with others. This might impact our ability to rest deeply or step forwards more fully into life. Remembering and revisiting these patterns can offer us the opportunity to inhabit a fuller expression and movement potentiality in our bodies. This can resonate into every aspect of our lives reinspiring and reconnecting us to the natural awe and wonder that it is to exist in a human body.

All sessions will be guided and are inclusive to everyone and everybody no matter your level of experience with yoga and/or somatic movement practices. Come as you are!

Activities

The rest of the day will be free for your own exploration. There is a gorgeous chlorine free pool, beautiful gardens, library and the town close by. Optional extras also include cookery lesson, massages, on-site solar powered hammam, walking and wildlife in the High Atlas Mountains with Said.

Emily is a warm, welcoming and very talented teacher who guided us through very enjoyable yoga sessions, offering choices to meet individual needs. We now understand much more about somatic yoga and its benefits and hope to continue with this practise. We had a fantastic week, in a lovely setting, with great people and would highly recommend it to anyone.
